The notorious underground filmmaker, queer artist and happenings master Jack Smith followed his police-raided, trans-cinema weapon Flaming Creatures with this verbose, intensely colourful and visionary unfinished marvel. Screening from a 16mm print, delivered direct from the USA, Normal Love sees his New York underground stars emerge as glamorously dressed monsters in scenes and stories at once dreamlike and baroque.
The screening of Normal Love on Wednesday 1 April will be introduced by Professor Dominic Johnson, Queen Mary University of London.
Temporary VAT-reduced rate for children: prices have been adjusted for all under 16’s tickets booked between 25 June and 1 September for screenings during the same period. BFI Riverfront will be closed until 5pm on 9 July.
