Matt and Jay, a music duo who go by ‘Nirvanna the Band’ have been trying for years to get a show at their local bar, the Rivoli. When their latest madcap scheme sends them back in time to 2008, they might finally book the gig. Matt Johnson (Blackberry, The Dirties) and Jay McCarrol revisit the characters from their hit web series of the same name, yet this brilliant mockumentary stands on its own and is arguably even more enjoyable without prior knowledge. It is both a hilarious guerrilla-style comedy and sweet ode to making art with friends, crafted together with so much inventive, head-spinning movie magic, you’ll be left wondering how they did it.
