Giulia, a whimsical and unconventional young woman, impulsively marries bourgeois lawyer Pietro. The film tracks the couple’s adjustment to married life amid the interference of Pietro’s mother. Airy, ultra-chic and featuring a bravura performance by Vitti that combines slapstick humour and introspection, Salce’s film addresses social change with a lightness of touch.

The screening of I Married You for Fun on Wednesday 12 August will be introduced by writer and researcher Olga Campofreda.
