The Art Deco Grand Hotel in Weimar-era Berlin is a meeting point for an unlikely group of characters: an aging ballerina, a charming thief, a street-wise stenographer, a ruthless tycoon and a timid accountant. While guests of the hotel, they are engulfed in dramas of various magnitude, including romance, burglary and murder. One of Hollywood’s first major ensemble films, featuring a starry cast, Grand Hotel is a delight.
