Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared
+ Q&A with creators Becky Sloan and Joe Pelling
We celebrate the surreal, horrifying puppets of Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared with the show’s creators.

YouTube/C4 2011-2022. Total running time 100min
Beginning on YouTube in 2011 and followed by a Channel 4 series in 2022, Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared riffs off the kids puppet shows we know, introducing a surreal, darkly existential and admirably sinister perspective that is funny as it is unsettling. At this event, we will screen favourite moments from the series in the company of the show’s creators and performers, highlighting the impressive blend of live action, puppetry and various styles of animation.
Temporary VAT-reduced rate for children: prices have been adjusted for all under 16’s tickets booked between 25 June and 1 September for screenings during the same period. BFI Riverfront will be closed until 5pm on 9 July.
