After her philandering husband dies, Dona Flor remarries, only for his ghost to return to her bed. Barreto transforms Jorge Amado’s novel into a sensual and comic celebration of Bahia. Anchored by Sônia Braga’s iconic performance, it is one of Brazil’s most beloved and successful films, balancing romance, satire and pleasure.
The screening of Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands on Thursday 18 June will be introduced by Natali Juste Simmonds, London Latino Film Festival.
BFI Riverfront will be closed on Wednesday 3 June. BFI Southbank will be closed Tuesday 23 and Wednesday 24 June due to a private event.
