São Paulo, 1919. Playwright Dayse – inspired by modernist figure Miss Cyclone – struggles for recognition and dreams of a scholarship to Paris, while confronting an unwanted pregnancy and a society that denies her authorship. Eschewing the conventions of a classical biopic, Castro imagines the life history erased, restoring Dayse’s place within Brazilian Modernism through performance, solidarity and cinematic reinvention.
