Commissioned for French television as part of a series titled ‘The French as Seen by...’, David Lynch’s delightful slapstick comedy western The Cowboy and the Frenchman explores a culture clash between some American cowboys and a mysterious Frenchman they capture. Brimming fun and Lynchian humour, the short also marks Lynch's first collaboration with Harry Dean Stanton. We present it here accompanied with a selection of Lynch’s other short films.
