Ways of Seeing Archives: Films by Chris Paul Daniels, Tierney Walker and Tina Grace
+ Q&A with the filmmakers
New and recent films stage radical re-engagements with materials held in the North West Film Archive and the John Berger archive at the British Library.
- Total running time 120min
Three new films amplify, re-frame and even re-wire the archive’s capacity to preserve different voices and perspectives. Chris Paul Daniels juxtaposes swathes of material from the North West Film Archive to palpable socio-political effect in Give Yourself A Round of Applause (2026, 12min, Digital) and Is There Anybody There? (2023, 17min, Digital).
Surrender: Ways of Hearing John Berger (2023, 51min, Digital) by director-executive producer Tina Grace and camera-photographer-editor Tierney Walker, and commissioned by the British Library, casts a female lens on the radical thinker and broadcaster whose centenary falls this year.
Temporary VAT-reduced rate for children: prices have been adjusted for all under 16’s tickets booked between 25 June and 1 September for screenings during the same period. BFI Riverfront will be closed until 5pm on 9 July.
