Bigelow’s dramatisation of the decade-long search for al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden focuses on a female CIA analyst’s involvement in the manhunt. The film explores the human figures behind a complex operation, with the morally problematic use of interrogation and torture underscored by scenes of uncompromising brutality. Tense throughout, the film is anchored by one of Jessica Chastain’s finest performances to date.
Contains scenes of graphic violence and torture.
