Against the backdrop of a stormy Yorkshire Moors, young lovers Cathy and Heathcliff are torn apart by family and circumstance, only to find their lives intersecting some years later. Adapting the first half of Emily Bronté’s novel, this Hollywood classic sees Olivier at his brooding best, while Oberon simmers and shimmers as Cathy. With Wuthering Heights fervour still in the air, it’s the perfect time to rewatch this very fine earlier adaptation.

‘I’ve watched it for almost six decades and never seen it on the big screen. It would be an absolute experience, although I may be crying in public!’
