Uprooted is a pioneering portrayal of the human cost of Bengal Partition. Police seized the script during shooting as government didn’t want this story told. It follows refugees fleeing East Pakistan to Kolkata, capturing displacement with stark realism. Blending documentary footage into the narrative, it is an early record of forced migration, hardship and the struggle to rebuild shattered lives.
