Ghatak wrote both the story and screenplay with long-time friend and colleague Mukherjee, who was making his debut as a director. Through three interconnected stories set in a rental house, the film unfolds a continuum of birth, life and death, while presenting tender reflections on life’s transience. Successive tenants bring love, loss and renewal to this shared temporary home.
