The adventures of vaudeville family ‘The Five Donahues’ unfold in this glittering ensemble musical constructed around the hits of songwriter Irving Berlin. Monroe features as aspiring singer and love interest of one of the Donahue sons. From her supporting role, Monroe manages to outshine musical comedy legend Ethel Merman – her glorious performances of showstoppers After You Get What You Want (You Don’t Want It) and Heat Wave are alone worth the price of admission.
