The director reportedly said that in The Store we see how the doctors, lawyers and judges who run the institutions in his other films spend their money. Filmed in the lead-up to Christmas on the shop floor and behind the scenes at the original Neiman-Marcus store in Dallas, this is an entertaining portrait of 1980s consumer culture and the fashions of the time.

The screening of The Store on Tuesday 13 January will be introduced by season curator Sandra Hebron.
