Monday 8 January 20:15 BFI Reuben Library

During the post-punk Thatcher years, London’s legendary Scala cinema offered community refuge with a programme ranging from established classics and offbeat cult hits to sexploitation, kung fu and LGBTQIA+ programmes. This documentary tribute features a cornucopia of interviews, archive footage and film clips, offering up a testament to this iconic venue. In this Member Salon, we’ll look back at cinema programming of old and discuss how it has changed. There’ll be a wonderful collection of programmes and reviews of some Scala classics on display, courtesy of the BFI Reuben library.

Members can book a joint ticket to the salon and the screening of SCALA!!! on Mon 8 Jan 18:15 NFT3 for themselves and their guests in advance for just £6.

Members who watched the film on another date are welcome to come along to the free Salon discussion and show their Membership Card for admission on a first come, first served basis.

See other screenings of SCALA!!!, including the screening on Fri 5 Jan 18:10 NFT1 introduced by directors Jane Giles and Ali Catterall.
