A young professional rises within São Paulo’s booming car industry, while his personal life unravels. Both a character study and urban critique, Person’s film skilfully captures industrial growth through precise framing and restless movement. Recently restored, São Paulo Incorporated stands as Brazilian modernism’s most incisive portrait of middle-class ambition and alienation.
Restored by The Film Foundation’s World Cinema Project and Cineteca di Bologna in association with Cinemateca Brasileira, Lauper Films Ltda. and the family of Luiz Sergio Person. Funding provided by the Hobson/Lucas Family Foundation.
