Access lift temporarily out of service

If you would like to access the BFI Southbank from Theatre Avenue please use our Black and White corridor entrance on your left hand side further up theatre Avenue (as you head towards the river) and press the intercom for security or staff assistance. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

You can show your eticket to our staff on the cinema doors, so please view your e-ticket for the specific cinema for your screening.

Please note:

  • our two secondary entrances are now closed and access to BFI Southbank will be through the Riverfront and Theatre Avenue entrances
  • the lift at our main Lightbox Theatre Avenue entrance is currently out of order – see our Access information page
  • from Waterloo Bridge coming from South London access will be through the Riverfront entrance, from the Level 2 Riverside Terrace of the Southbank Centre (down the stairs from waterloo bridge and right turn down the next set of stairs onto Queens Walk)
  • from Waterloo Bridge coming from North London access will be through the Theatre Avenue entrance or Riverfront entrance
  • from Waterloo Station access will be through the Theatre Avenue entrance

By car

Parking is available under the National Theatre (offer Upper Ground), or at APCOA South Bank. The Congestion Charge applies.

By train or tube

The nearest stations are Waterloo (South Bank exit), Embankment and Charing Cross (cross Hungerford Bridge to reach the South Bank).

By bus
