Joel and Ethan Coen’s celebrated, Oscar-winning black comedy follows Jerry Lundegaard, a financially desperate car salesman in rural Minnesota, who hires two bumbling criminals to kidnap his wife and extort ransom from her wealthy father. When the plan spirals violently out of control, the case lands with Marge Gunderson, the local town’s sharp, unflappable and very pregnant police chief. We’re delighted to welcome the film’s cinematographer, Roger Deakins, to introduce the film and talk about his experiences making it.

Tickets £17, concessions £14 (Members pay £2.50 less).

Ahead of the screening, Roger Deakins will be signing copies of his book Reflections on Cinema in the BFI Blue Room at 19:00.
