Molly Manners’ feature debut charts the intense and uncanny friendship of two boarding school girls, as they embark on their summer project of falling in love. In their final year at school, two unnervingly inseparable best friends, Flic and Minna set themselves the offbeat challenge to fall in love with the next person they lay eyes on. As they navigate adolescence, schoolwork and the complex new world of romance, their bond is tested in unexpected ways. This fresh, funny and painfully familiar debut from director Molly Manners is distinctive and charming with unexpected turns and flourishes for the coming-of-age genre. Manners draws out the subtle nuances of class anxiety, jealousy and desire with a directorial style that evolves with its protagonists. Both director and actors, Duggan and Clear, announce themselves as bold British talents to watch.
