Hitchcock’s classic thriller, his third adaptation of a Daphne du Maurier tale after Jamaica Inn and Rebecca, sees birds randomly attack the sleepy Californian community of Bodega Bay. From this unusual premise – and most unlikely of antagonists – the filmmaker crafts a masterfully suspenseful tale that is by turns shocking and tense, with special effects that continue to disturb.
