For the safety of all visitors, security may ask to search bags on arrival. If you decline the search, you cannot be admitted to the building.

There are no cloakroom facilities at BFI Southbank and large bags are prohibited so please do not bring these with you as we will not be able to accommodate them.

The searches look for restricted items including objects that might be considered a risk to the safety and enjoyment of our visitors, or the use of which would contravene one of our policies.

Items which are prohibited may include, but are not limited to;

  • Spray cans, Gas cannisters or compressed gas in any container
  • Fireworks, flares, smoke cannisters, Chinese lanterns
  • Flammable liquids in any container
  • Firearms, knives or blades, replica weapons of any sort
  • Flags and banners on poles
  • Megaphones, amplification equipment
  • Klaxons, airhorns or other similar items capable of making loud noise
  • Any other item which in our reasonable opinion, may cause danger or disruption to other visitors (regardless of whether or not such item is illegal or is carried for specific purposes)

If you wish to give feedback about these measures or the range of prohibited items you can do so by emailing [email protected]

We thank you for your co-operation.
