Accessible facilities
If you use a wheelchair or scooter
All our screens are accessible by lift or step-free depending on which entrance you use. If you book a wheelchair space, you'll be able to book a companion seat next to you. We also accept the CEA card, which means your companion can book their ticket for free.
To book a wheelchair space and companion seat, call us on 020 7960 2102 or email [email protected] (with the subject line 'ACCESS') before your screening.

Lifts and step-free access
BFI Southbank is a multi-level building with lifts available to access each floor.
The maximum dimensions for a scooter or powered wheelchair for these lifts are:
- 880mm wide
- 1330mm long
The maximum weight for the lifts is 340kg.

Accessible toilets at BFI Southbank
Wheelchair accessible and ambulant toilets are in the:
- screen NFT1 foyer (next to BFI Riverfront)
- Riverfront Balcony Bar
- main foyer (next to the Mediatheque)
- screen NFT2 foyer
Additional wheelchair-accessible toilets can be found in:
- mezzanine level corridor (opposite the Blue Room)
- ground-floor corridor (next to the lift)
We have nine gender-neutral toilets in the building. They are:
- by the Riverfront Balcony Bar
- next to screen NFT2
- behind screen NFT3 in the lobby on the mezzanine level

Storage for wheelchairs, scooters, and prams
We can safely store your wheelchair, scooter or pram in our foyer, next to the box office. Ask a member of staff to help you, and collect it again whenever you're ready.
If you have a guide dog
We welcome guide dogs (and assistance animals) at BFI Southbank and can accommodate them in our screens and other spaces. We can provide drinking water for your animal.

Quieter areas
BFI Southbank is a complex and busy building that some may find overwhelming. If the venue gets too busy or overwhelming, you can use a quiet space. If you cannot find these, just ask a member of staff.
Mezzanine on upper level
You can take stairs or a lift to the Mezzanine area above the box office. There are seats and tables you can use.
Library on ground level
The BFI Reuben Library is also a quiet space away from the noise of the foyer and it’s free to use. Find out more about the library.

Eating and drinking
Enjoy a range of different food and drink options at BFI Southbank. All our eateries are accessible and we have large print menus available.
BFI Riverfront
BFI Riverfront bar and restaurant gives spectacular views of Waterloo Bridge and the Thames – the hottest spot on the Southbank.
BFI Bar
Our bar reflects the buzzing atmosphere of the BFI and is the perfect place for a pre- or post-movie drink.
Learning and exploring
Dive into decades of archive film and television in the Mediatheque, or explore the books and documents in our library.
BFI Reuben Library
We have study desks available in a quiet room where you can sit and read. We have accessible resources available.
Mediatheque
The Mediatheque is a unique place to watch and discover wonderfully curated treasures of British film and TV history.
