Young Programmers Present: Building Your Own Community Cinema
Learn how to build a community cinema, from finding venues to attracting audiences, with insights from programmers on creating and sustaining indie film screenings in your local area.

While longstanding independent movie theatres have been shuttered and ticket prices have soared at high-street chains, fan-led pop-up community cinema projects have emerged to fill the gap. Cult hits and underappreciated gems have been rehomed in church halls, galleries and pub function rooms, as screenings organised entirely by independent film enthusiasts bring old films to new and pre-existing audiences.
From finding venues and crafting an identity, to designing a programme and attracting an audience, this is a crash-course in building a community cinema. Hear from a panel of programmers and curators on the trials and tribulations of bringing their own projects to life and discover how you can reinvigorate your local indie cinemagoing scene.
