Introduction

Campbell X’s work deals with queer memory erased by colonisation, longing and Blackness across the African diaspora. His films include the award-winning queer urban romantic comedy feature film Stud Life and the short films DES!RE, VISIBLE, Still We Thrive and Untitled (2025), which screened recently at the London Short Film Festival 2026 and is an incantation to our indigenous trans and non-binary ancestors. We catch up with Campbell to talk about his work and his new movie, Low Rider, a queer road trip filmed in the Western Cape region of South Africa.

Hosted by Indigo Korres, Festival Director of Scottish Queer International Film Festival.
